While eating the meal, all I could think was, I wish I'd just gotten Popeye's or KFC if I was gonna do fried chicken. The chicken itself was moist though (not afraid to use that word, thank you very much). The breading definitely could have used a little more flavor. You know that stale grease taste? It's ruined many a Mexican restaurant tortilla chip experience for me. It sort of tasted like they needed to change the oil in the fryer, if I'm being honest. It was chicken from a gas station so I don't know why I expected to be blown away but I guess their marketing had lured me in with promises of chicken euphoria. They weren't very crispy and the breading didn't really stick to the potato.
I don't know anyone can mess up fried potato wedges but these tasted a little off. Spinx 2-piece white combo meal with potato wedges and roll Mary Patterson Broome For the record, a one-piece chicken breast meal that includes one side, a biscuit, a cookie, and a medium drink at my local KFC is $7.33, so less chicken for about the same meal, but they do throw in that cookie. It was a decent amount of food for a grand total of $7.88. Why does the drink need to be extra large? Because this is America, and we're thirsty. I got the 2-piece white meat combo meal, which also includes potato wedges, a roll and an extra large drink.

I love it with a side of honey and some sort of starchy carbohydrate-potatoes, mac and cheese, biscuits, I'm game for all of it. We'll give them a pass on "Crunchy crunchy chicken lunchy" just this one time Mary Patterson Broomeįried chicken is one of my all-time favorite meals. I've had some decent freshly prepared food at small-town, independently-owned Southern gas stations so I wanted to see how this chain measured up. So this review might be helpful to South Carolina residents who've never taken the plunge and tried the fried chicken, or anyone who might be road-tripping through the state jonesing for something crunchy. Turns out, Spinx was founded in my new home of Greenville, SC and now boasts over 80 locations but all within the state.
